yeah this seems honest "An AR 15 shoots a little .223 bullet barely larger than the Ruger .22 I use to shoot rodents around my property" 1 & 2: his pics pic 3 [google images] showing that the .223 isn't just 0.003in bigger; it has a ton more propellantpic.twitter.com/KADFsBAUga

At 1200 lbs per square inch and a velocity three times that of a 9 mm the AR-15 will shred any organ it hits. Apparently they don’t understand kinetic energy. #physicsisfun

The 9 mm (124 grain bullet) would have just as high a velocity at close range and shoots a weighty-er bullet than an AR-15 (65 grain billet) . So kinetic energy arguments are valid, but disprove your point.pic.twitter.com/57WS98c3QT

Me either, but I don’t want to be hit by an SUV either, what’s the point of saying that? Ballistics is a more pure science than medicine (which has subjective elements) so if making an argument about ammo/weapons and lethality—go to the science. No reason to single out the AR15

I want the same kind of publically funded research and regulations we apply to not getting hit by an SUV to not getting shot

With the uproar, why mess with public funding? There’s way more strings attached, and you’ve got private donors tripping over you for gun research right now. Plus, I do think politicization of the CDC is a bad idea

Surely *not* being able to research gun trauma is the politicisation of the CDC, and reversing this de-politicises it?

I’m believe it will. Every time NEJM prints some lib BS editorial I trust it less. It shows bias, which we are not supposed to have in the scientific community. That being said, I support overturning the Dickey Amendment.

Yes, politicizing CDC was a very bad idea. That's what happened when CDC was told they couldn't study gun violence. Let's remove that restriction and allow them to study any serious health issue. Firearm fatalities are an epidemic in the US.

In my experience, far fewer strings associated with fed funding... then again depends on your definition of strings (I'm almost afraid to ask). PS: "private donors tripping over (you)" to fund gun research... w/no commercial application?? Show me.
