Good to talk to the Association of London Borough Planning Officers this morning about permitted development, drawing on work we did for in 2018 and for in 2019. The meeting was hosted - not sure how many other addresses include a half?

Thanks . I know was working on this article for some time and it's interesting to see such detail about people's daily lives in some of these permitted development conversions.

Dublin City Hall was built as the Royal Exchange in 1769, designed by Thomas Copley, then became the City Hall in 1852. Still used for weddings, receptions and some council meetings. A fine example of Georgian Dublin.

Today we took the MSc Spatial Planning students for some sea air in South Shields then down to to hear about city centre regeneration projects around the Minster and former Vaux Brewery. Great to hear from council officers in the stunning council chamber

Great to be on our annual field trip to the North East including talks at Newcastle University and a walking tour of city centre this afternoon. Always good to think about planning challenges, histories and interventions outside London

Local authorities are building more houses than we think - research by & shows councils taking an interventionist approach to deliver homes.

A good discussion of council direct delivery of housing from , giving a sense of the scale of activity across the country but also a sense of some of the challenges too. Nice to see the funded research I did with mentioned...

Planning my usual field trip to for November and been told that don't do group tickets and I have to buy tickets for my group of 64 from ticket machines that only sell 4 tickets per transaction. Very disappointing lack of encouragement to use the system

Researching the revival of council-led housing, my favourite discovery is the typology of the celebratory local authority house-cake. Time for the Great British Council House Bake Off?

Enjoying a good town hall on holiday! This building has housed the Donostia - San Sebastian city council since 1947 but was built in 1887 as the Gran Casino & apparently graced by the likes of Trotsky and Mata Hari. Bullet holes from 1936 are still visible
