Lots of questions about school case rates. First table is Fall 2021 when testing was accessible. Second is first two weeks of Jan, when testing practices were drastically different -- making case rates incomparable. However % positivity is worth noting.

N95/KN95/KN90/KF94 have an electrostatic charge that pulls in particles so you don't inhale them. Surgical masks do too, but have a looser fit, limiting effectiveness. acgih.org/covid-19-fact-

Another record day of #COVID19 cases in #SaltLakeCounty - over 5,500. The number of kids being hospitalized due to COVID is increasing, 23 admitted yesterday. And we can't do TTS due to lack of testing capacity - losing another layer of protection. Vax. Mask. Stay home when sick.

5/ Right now, 5.4% of Utah cases are hospitalized. If this holds true, we will have over 80 SLCo residents hospitalized everyday due to COVID. Right now we have about 23 daily hospitalizations, and our hospitals are full.

4/ #SaltLakeCounty - we have 64% of our population fully vaccinated (compared to 80% in Miami-Dade). AND our hospitals are already at capacity. We CANNOT be complacent. If we experience a similar surge, we will have nearly 1,500 cases per day.

2/ Now they are on the brink of a severe hospital staffing shortage. The staff might not die from #COVID; they are vaccinated. But they are not going to work if they are infected. We will have more excess deaths because people might not get the care they need for non-COVID issues

1/ Get vaccinated #SaltLakeCounty! Follow along . . . Miami-Dade County, FL had 11,543 new cases in the past 7 days. Had only 1,985 cases week of Dec 3. 80% of their population is fully vaccinated. Last week they had plenty of hospital capacity.
