Ah yes, comedy. The last bastion of free speech. Like at the comedy club where you can get booed off-stage if you fail to read the room right and they kick your ass out if you heckle the performer.

I get it. Some jokes don’t hit or just fall flat on their faces. But that doesn’t mean topics should be avoided.

Your overly-simplistic take of "No subject should be avoided." It's missing the point.

Being an asshole bigot just plain isn't funny. It's just being an asshole bigot.

Joking about controversial topics doesn’t make you a bigot. I mean, they’re called jokes for a reason. They aren’t meant to be taken seriously. I can joke about Islam, and not be an islamophobe (which I’m not) because they are jokes.

Something being a joke does not make it either funny or okay.

Well I guess I must be a horrible person for laughing at fucked up jokes then? Laughing doesn’t equal agreeing with the topic or the joke. Laughing is a reaction to something that could be uncomfortable.

Laughter is far more than that. And don't start this victim card shit. You just said something ignorant and are being corrected on it. Don't be a big baby about it.

I’d also like to know how laughter is more than that.
