But a lot of Trump loyalists only became so in the last few years, they were talked into it, and they can be talked out of it by better, more principled Republicans.

Why in the hell would you think that? If they were interested in "principles", they would have never bought into the Trump cult. Sure, I guess if Trump drops dead, they come back into the fold ... but as long as he's still in politics, it isn't happening.

That's why Never Trump people exist. They see the paradox of being in a party that is only viable if it has to work in symbiosis with Trumpists, which is why they are electing to blow up the project. It's odd that it's being viewed as suspicious from conservative commentators.
