This conclusion to an attempted rehab of "The Phantom Menace" is, I think, interesting though somewhat wrong. https://www.theringer.com/movies/2019/3/28/18282707/star-wars-phantom-menace-episode-one-george-lucas-1999 …pic.twitter.com/0YQvz6SmdB

The endless reboots and franchises and sequelae that followed -- especially the Abrams Star Wars movies -- learned from Lucas's failure and decided never to try anything too risky: Just blow up the Death Star again, kids!
And so we entered into the age of superhero/sequel decadence. But The Phantom Menace isn't part of that decadence; it was actually new and risky and weird. And yes, alas, pretty terrible. (Though better than Attack of the Clones!)
I thought Phantom Menace was the ONLY tolerable prequel.
There is a VERY good movie trilogy hiding dormant below the prequels. Disney should consider doing a remake/retcon of all three, picking all the great ideas that are in there, wasted, and makig a good movie out of them.
There is potential there, but what have you seen which leads you to think Disney wouldn’t make it even worse?
Lucas really needed a better set of screenwriters while he took charge of the artistic vision and worldbuilding, really. Perhaps, the new trilogy has gone too far the other way?
