Our Council Group’s Leadership Team was elected last night! Robin Bradburn is Leader, and Jane Carr is Deputy Leader. Paul Trendall becomes Chair, and Cllr Andy Reilly is Vice Chair. We want to see our city become better, not just go back to ‘normal’.

Today I voted for Andy Carr as my Lib Dem replacement on MK Council. I would recommend all voters in Newport Pagnell South ward do the same.

Brexit is not a project of freedom, but a project of creating barriers and bureaucracy. This deal cannot change that. But it can be a basis for building a closer relationship again in the future. To rebuild what has been destroyed by Brexit. That is why I will vote in favour.

Green bins: 12 streets in Green Park and 9 in Blakelands did not have their green bins emptied today. They will be emptied tomorrow morning as a priority.

Everyone being very nice to MK Lib Dem leader Douglas McCall (Newport Pagnell South) possibly because he's not seeking reelection after 25 years.

MK Liberal Democrats are delivering on promises to help protect residents against future flooding. We won a £15k amendment to train/equip volunteer flood wardens across MK, and that is just a start. Follow the link to our website to find out more!

If they think they can ban people being "annoying" outside the palace believe me when I say I will keep on being annoying to the government on the inside of the building.

Rounds of applause for councillors standing down in May, including Hannah O'Neill, the deputy leader of MKC. Ric Brackenbury and Paul Williams won't be seeking re-election either. It's Cllr Brackenbury's second attempt to go after elections were postponed last year.

The amendment would be for a £1m fund to make sure that while MK East is being built (east of the M1), residents from neighbouring Broughton, Willen and Brooklands can suggest ideas which could be developed for connectivity with new areas and reduce any negatives which do arise.

Cllr moved the Lib Dem amendment to the capital program. He explained that while we must welcome newer estates as 60% of the children growing up in MK will live there, we must have things ready to reduce impacts on residents in current estates. 1/2

Cllr thanks Cllr Marland for accepting the capital amendment which means that while MK East is being built east of the M1, a fund will be available to help reduce impacts on residents living in existing estates which border it, Broughton, Willen and Brooklands.

Fascinating scenes on Milton Keynes Council just now. Former Tory councillor, now the only independent in Milton Keynes, has just torn the Conservative budget amendments to shreds. Pointing out how impractical, politically charged, and in some cases ludicrous they are.

Among other points Cllr Douglas McCall mentions that while Tories claim Westminster government is helping during covid, 10 years ago about 75% of MK council funding came from Westminster, now it is less than 10% with Tories piling the burden on local council tax payers. 2/2

Cllr R Bradburn follows by pointing out the proposed Tory amendments don't make sense, including the promised Tory help for business would be only £76 for only half the companies in MK. Only Westminster can afford the size of help Tories are telling residents MK council can give.

Cllr Robin Bradburn opens the proposal for the Lib Dem amendment for MK Council by explaining that between more money for planning enforcement, extra money to help children living in poverty, our priorities are to help the council deliver for all residents of Milton Keynes. 1/2
