Great news, although we shouldn’t need to be here. I led the fight for marriage equality here in Maryland over 10 years ago; Obergefell was 7 years ago. This is about this radical Supreme Court’s lack of respect for precedent.

NEW: House of Representatives votes 267-157 to codify same-sex marriage into law. 47 Republicans joined every Democrat in voting in the affirmative.

Baltimore has a special place in my heart, so I really enjoyed talking to about my view on the City's 3 biggest challenges (crime, transportation + economic development) and how a Gansler-Hollingsworth administration intends to address them.

Together, we will bring crime down and lift justice up by ensuring our officers are well-paid and well-trained, including in de-escalation tactics. I am grateful for their support and look forward to working with them to make Maryland safe.

Regarding Hogan's rush to gut our gun laws without any alternative solution, a citizen from Laurel writes: "Our communities already are unsafe with the proliferation of guns, including assault weapons, which has resulted in the devastating carnage we read about every single day."

This is a good start, but our work on gun safety is not close to being finished. We must pass a federal assault weapon ban to keep guns from flowing into Maryland from states with lax regulation. There is no justifiable reason for a civilian to own a assault weapon. Period.

The action we take today on gun violence is a step designed to make our nation the kind of nation it should be. It's about the most fundamental things: the lives of our children and our loved ones.

With an announced crowd of 32,286, this is the first time the Orioles have drawn 25,000 fans to Camden Yards in consecutive games where the opponent was neither the Yankees nor Red Sox since May 2018. The power of the floppy hat and the Hawaiian shirt.

It might surprise many of you to know that Maryland does not have a comprehensive statute regulating gun possession for "time, place, and manner." The provisions we do have are randomly scattered in local law or buried in regulation, which can be easily repealed by pro-gun Gov.

No other candidate in the field has received an ‘F’ from the NRA, personally put 100s of gun-carrying violent criminals behind bars, and spearheaded legislation to get guns out of the hands of criminals. 3/3

The No. 1 job of government is to keep people safe, and Governor Hogan has failed at that job. Governor Hogan dropped this requirement without suggesting ANY alternative, lesser standard that would ensure we're keeping guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. 1/3
