I am building a peer-to-peer mentoring plattform at to help designers grow their skills beyond online courses. I strongly believe that the personal exchange mentoring can offer can be a great asset to a career in .

I recently started a design channel. I would like to share my knowledge and connect with other designers and also start to dabble in videography which is my new point of interest. Linky: If I get to 100 subs I will be eligible to change this ugly URL 😉

I am developing a platform for UXjuniors. I’m happy to talk about it but I don’t want *yet* to show too much as we’re busy setting up for the launch 😅

Absolutely. My original dream was to design better schools, which I did, but realized the architecture (or "hardware") isn't the big problem in education. That original drive led me to UX. Same drive, new medium.

I'm borderline junior/associate I suppose so I constantly seek out experts inside and outside of design to hone my craft. I share what I've learned in lightning talks and discussion groups. I always (try to) give kind but *honest* feedback when requested.

A2: We can't agree on what we do, and how to tell that story. Most of us don't get (and don't know how to get) the influence to improve design culture. As a result, we get stuck in places where we are underutilized, and it's tricky to escape.

A3: De-emphasize the visual outputs and documentation of UX design decisions, and emphasize the tools and processes that actually help us make those decisions. Career satisfaction will go up when we move past "can you draw my idea for me" design practice.

Time to toot your own horn. I want to hear what you're doing to make our community better. Do you have any projects/mentorships/groups/etc. that you want to share with us?

GREAT question! high level, as many people as we can. obviously other designers, developers, practitioners, but is about improving the world. Talk to your doctor. your auto mechanic. your governor. the checkout person at publix. just talk to as many people as you can.

A3: We need to constantly be "iterating" because even as designers we haven't gotten the workplace it right

One thing the world has going for it is a very strong community. Who contributes to the growth of the community? Who should we be engaging with/following/learning from?

A3: And call out bad design practice when you see it (and try to correct/teach). It hurts the field as it can make people have a bad impression of what design is and can be quite limiting. We need to lift each other up to be a better field of practice.

agree! do not settle for "okay", "mediocre" or "thats just how we've always done it". always push for the best experience. 1 amazing experience is worth more than 10 mediocre ones, and way more than 100 bad ones. More != Better
