Considering Youtube's hosted on Google's servers, they should have some of the best anti-DDOS protections around. ...Unless an intermediary node was affected instead, or an important DNS cache or something.

google is not excluded from being ddos, its rare but not impossible. It could be a number of things.

I know they're not excluded. It's just that... if something is actually capable of DDOSing what's probably one of the most well-protected open-access internet services, then that's kinda worrisome.
