As #BlackHistoryMonth begins, we honor Black leaders who have committed their lives to progress and justice in Jacksonville. We will lift their voices, and teach from their example. And we will not be deterred by attempts to erase the path they’ve walked.
It was an honor to go on Conversations with Denise! We talked about my Jacksonville roots, commitment to service, #changeforgood platform, and desire to be a change agent for the city we love.
Grateful to have Mayor Glasser’s endorsement. And Dr. Joshi’s support. Enough of the partisan food fight. Let’s unite this city and make it work for all of us! #changeforgood
Thank you Mayor Glasser! I think there are a lot of crossover votes waiting to openly support @DonnaDeegan for Jacksonville Mayor; you can see with leaders like Mayor Glasser and Dr. Joshi @famallergyjax that she is a candidate who can unite people twitter.com/ellenglasser4a…
Thanks to Dr. Zahir and Zakia Sarwar for opening their home to a night of heart, hospitality, and delicious food! We discussed the importance of diversifying and activating city boards so that they look like Jacksonville and bring everyone to the table. Diversity is our strength.
I couldn’t be more grateful for the support we are receiving from people across Jacksonville who believe in #changeforgood. Thanks to Laura and Mike Langton for welcoming us into their beautiful house on the river – one of the oldest homes in Jacksonville!
With all the heaviness of the last few days, I had to see the sun come up. We begin again. Another chance to do better by each other. Together we will.
It's UN Holocaust Remembrance Day. Let's all take a moment to listen to the stories of survivors and remember the lives lost in this horrific, world-changing tragedy. With antisemitism on the rise in Jacksonville, we can never forget what hate can lead to if it isn't stamped out.
Mark Woods: This projection comes from the children of Holocaust survivors https://jacksonville.com/story/news/columns/mark-woods/2023/01/25/traces-documentary-about-children-of-holocaust-survivors-debuts-jacksonville/69830303007/… via @jaxdotcom, @TUmarkwoods
It's deeply humbling to be endorsed by two respected women leaders whom I have worked with and admired for many years. I'm grateful to Mayor Glasser and Mayor Pruette for trusting in my leadership and for recognizing the value of our campaign for change. https://donnaformayor.com/updates/former-beaches-mayors-endorse-donna-deegan…
Two months from Election Day! Every action, every dollar, and every vote matters during this final sprint. Join our breakfast fundraiser on Thursday and help get our #changeforgood message out across Jacksonville! https://bit.ly/ddfm-jan26
We can't let apathy and cynicism stand in the way of #changeforgood. We are the closest we've been in years to pushing the boulder over the hill. Make sure your family, friends, and neighbors know how important this election is on March 21. All we have to do is vote!
The Jewish Federation and Foundation’s Women’s Philanthropy Champagne Brunch was inspiring! Today’s themes of character, competence, and connection are important values we can all live by.
What a beautiful Lunar New Year Gala! Congratulations to the Jacksonville Chinese Association on a fantastic event that brought us together in celebration of Jacksonville's diversity.
Last night’s community conversation was full of people who care deeply about the Northside. Thank you for your questions and ideas. These honest exchanges are the first step in making good on decades of broken promises. It’s in our power to change things if we listen and act.
Today was Jacksonville at it's best. You could truly feel the energy and excitement as we came together to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We can't stop here. We must continue doing the work to create a city that works for all of us.
Dr. King wanted us to see each other's humanity and have the uncomfortable conversations that move us forward together. I believe we can have the Jacksonville that we all want and deserve if each of us lives by these words. #MLKDay
for a Day of Service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Urban Farmacy. We prepared for the cold weather and covered the crops which help feed local seniors.
I believe in second chances for our neighbors who have done their time and are leading a life of family and community. Thanks to the many organizations at today’s voting rights and legal clinic that are giving them that chance.
Harry touched so many lives and he will be missed. His accomplishments in business, philanthropic work, and commitment to community will forever have an impact on Jacksonville. My heart goes out to the Frisch family.
Finally a decision that respects the people’s will and court’s logic. We could have saved so many taxpayer dollars and city resources had they done so from the very beginning. The saga isn’t over but at least we can close this chapter.
The city of Jacksonville has dropped its appeal of the federal court's ruling finding that it racially gerrymandered its City Council districts last March.
The city has not dropped its appeal for the federal court's remedial map.

Our campaign is of, by, and for the people. We’ve been out in the neighborhoods, listening to our neighbors, and creating a shared vision of a city that works for all of us. Officially qualifying today is another big step towards #changeforgood in Jacksonville!
Being the only candidate for mayor to qualify for the ballot by petition is a big deal. It shows two things: 1) Strong grassroots organizing and community support, and 2) A candidate who isn’t trying to buy their way into office, but who will work for the people of Jacksonville.
