SatNet being directly under SASAC is huge. Why? It should, in theory, give the megaconstellation greater autonomy over sourcing. If the project was being done as a subsidiary of CASC, it's not hard to guess who would have built most of the satellites, rockets, etc. (2/4)

It also puts SatNet/China's LEO broadband constellation at the same level, again in theory, as the big 3 telcos, effectively making the space domain a 4th telco, to some extent. (3/4)

Interesting. The Chinese have demonstrated a core competency of recognizing good ideas, rapid replication, and then impressive innovation. I don't doubt this happening with respect to Starlink and Starship.
