Windows 7 was a fantastic and beloved operating system. But time has moved on, and now after supporting it for 13 years, Dolphin has moved on too. Click through for the full reasoning and analysis.

TW: suicide Near was the author of groundbreaking emulators: bsnes, higan, ares. They were an inspiration for many of us in the emulation scene. Last year they committed suicide after suffering from online harassment for too long. , put a stop to this. #dropkiwifarms

This is one of the last things that Near said before taking their own life after intense harassment from Kiwifarms. Evil trumphs when good men do nothing and @eastdakota, CEO of @Cloudflare, has the ability to do something. #cloudflareprotectsterrorists #dropkiwifarms twitter.com/near_koukai/st…

got something interesting in the mail: a custom arcade Wii manufactured by Nintendo seemingly exclusively for Capcom, the RVA-001! the only known game released for it so far is Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, but this system seems to contain something else? 👀
a big, tall and deep, chunky industrial-looking metal box with a plethora of odd connectors on the front, as well as some 8P*C jacks, RCA red/white pairs, and a DE-9 cable sticking out. mounted at the bottom is a smaller metal box, the RVA-001 itself.
front view of the RVA-001, a smaller but still industrial-looking metal box. on the top is a sticker with the text "MP8(SF)", possibly a reference to some Mario Party 8-based it may contain? from left to right on the front are two test menu buttons, a bank of 6 DIP switches, an SD card slot, an LED, a small fan grill and finally on the far right a reset button.
back view of the RVA-001. from left to right, it sports the more familiar-looking Wii power connectors, two RCA plugs for audio, a DE-15 video port (likely JVS-compliant), two USB ports of which the rightmost one (USB1) is covered by white plastic, a JST BS10P-SHF-1AA (NH) connector labeled "SERIAL (1) (2)", and finally a JST BS4P-SHF-1AA (NH) connector labeled "EXT-PWR".
the RVA-001 box with the top lid off, revealing its main board. markings confirm it was manufactured by Nintendo, labeled as "RVA-CPU-X2". it seems to contain a mix of standard Wii components (some below a heatsink) and some extras to deal with the arcade I/O, including a Xilinx Spartan 3 (XC3S200) FPGA. unlike the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom RVA-001, this one seems to have some headers left unsoldered...

Twenty years later I'm playing #MetroidPrime, the game I helped make via emulation on Linux on a Steam Deck. It plays extremely well. It's been years since I've played it so it might be time to play through it again. Too bad I can't play it on my Switch!
