Windows 7 was a fantastic and beloved operating system. But time has moved on, and now after supporting it for 13 years, Dolphin has moved on too. Click through for the full reasoning and analysis.
TW: suicide
Near was the author of groundbreaking emulators: bsnes, higan, ares. They were an inspiration for many of us in the emulation scene. Last year they committed suicide after suffering from online harassment for too long.
This is one of the last things that Near said before taking their own life after intense harassment from Kiwifarms. Evil trumphs when good men do nothing and @eastdakota, CEO of @Cloudflare, has the ability to do something.

got something interesting in the mail: a custom arcade Wii manufactured by Nintendo seemingly exclusively for Capcom, the RVA-001!
the only known game released for it so far is Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, but this system seems to contain something else? 👀
The May and June 2022 Progress Report is live! This time, we have HLE audio support for homebrew, popup fixes, improved Action Replay support, a whole new way to modify game visuals, and a tester slowing eaten alive by QTEs.
Due to a technical issue most of the Dolphin builds will be unavailable for download for the next few hours. The latest beta build should stay available in the meantime.
The Feb, March, and April Progress Report is up! This time, we implemented WGI, Factor 5 showed us how it's done, we facepalmed at a mobile driver, the Disney Trio of Destruction stopped exploding, and more!
Twenty years later I'm playing #MetroidPrime, the game I helped make via emulation on Linux on a Steam Deck. It plays extremely well. It's been years since I've played it so it might be time to play through it again.
Too bad I can't play it on my Switch!
The Nov, Dec, and Jan Progress Report is up! This time, we have a pink game getting muted, fixed VP6, Kirby removes their blindfold, Rygar, macOS Notarizing, everyone's favorite - CHARTS! (with performance improvements if you are into that), and more!
The Sept and Octo Progress Report is live! This time, we have flickering colors, cheat GUI on Android, slow descent into madness with texture cache, HLE Riivolution support, an exploration and fix for the "Sonic 06 of the GameCube", and more!

Every single person involved/aware did their best to save Near's life at every point in time given the information they had access to at the time. We failed.
I have spoken to the police department in charge of the investigation, and they have confirmed that Near passed away yesterday, June 27th 2021.
In respect of their privacy, I will not be seeking out any further information. Please don't ask.
This upcoming Progress Report will be a little late. Our developers just keep making cool new features and fixes, so we have a lot to cover this report! But we're doing our best, and it should be ready in a few days.
Here's a little teaser.
The recent Wii releases of Shakedown Hawaii and Retro City Rampage DX+ are currently getting shipped out. Of course, i ended up acquiring a copy.
and i can confirm that the games DO, unsurprisingly, run on
The April Progress Report is up! This month, we have renaming folders, fixed homebrew on netplay, better dumb high res monitor support, fix a flat crash, lots of android fixes, and support for the Metroid Prime 3 E3 2006 beta in master!
