So hey, without getting into the specifics of the articles (which is an interesting topic that i don't have the spoons for digging into right now) I would like to gently question the use of MRA buzzwords like "incel" in your discussion / social media presence?

If you see it used it's not favorable, same for talking about furzis or whoever.
-
Okay but isn't parroting their toxic language for the same purpose (insulting guys for being "beta" or whatever) causing the same damage as when they use it?
-
That's "these dudes use gay as an insult so I'm going to call them gay to bother them" logic. It still perpetuates the problem.
-
Nah that's a whole other conversation. But if you have a better word for grudging/attitudey entitlement feel free to bring it up.
-
Spoiled, demanding, entitled, juvenile, self-indulgent, manchild.
-
Manchild works :)
-
Cool, just would appreciate not having to deal with having their toxic garbage-language re-used

Your libertarian is showing.
-
There's many flavors of that, make a maximum wage and raise my taxes please, just not for bombing people. I run a business but nothing that goes into the news site isn't for love :P
-
I mean, this is the marxist input I’ve been waiting for in this fandom, and you dismiss it Hegel style. Ever heard of power dynamics and the attention economy?
-
The Society of the Spectacle seems like an interesting topic, otherwise I tend not to spend time on theory and rhetoric (or be too impressed by that french stuff) and save it for my project list. Love to get a guest piece if you're into it.

The opinion piece didn't do that did it? Who's this tweet directed to? :p
-
Nope! It was a very welcome guest piece, just could use more examples to substantiate the thesis... which I'm still wanting to hear. Just posting into the air ;)
-
There was all kinds of chatter on it, but general take is "it's not there" or "the fact that it's ignored creates those uncomfortable rifts". Imo it's just an inescapable part of life even when we're "just cute animals"

-
also the immediate steer into "pricy fursuits" is definitely missing the bigger picture, but I get why people would
-
Definitely part of life. I did intentionally leave out bigger picture since 1) That's for the OP and readers 2) it's too diffuse? A fandom isn't a class itself 3) It's a hobby man, if one feels like a prole in it they may have lost the point - compare sports or cars, we're good.
