@Dogen Inquiry about Japanese Phonetics lessons. My end goal is to be "fluent" in Japanese preferably with a native-like accent. However, if I never study in Japan or never live long term in Japan, will my efforts be futile?
I believe you can develop a very strong accent, even if you never live here. You'll have to study quite hard though! I wonder why you're so passionate about developing fluency despite the fact you don't intend to live here?

I guess it's mostly about learning it "the right way" and wanting to sound the best I can when I visit Japan a lot. Not sure if comparable, but ESL speakers who have accents are somewhat hard to talk to.
