I know you know that, but in 1ヶ月 it's not ケ, but the abbreviation of 箇 (just the upper left/right part), and the kanji reads 'ka', so it's actually the proper reading of an abbreviated kanji.

Kana are originally Kanji but simplified. 末 become ま and マ 久 become く and ク 加 become か and カ 計 become け and 介 become ケ wait what just happened with ケ

today I learned that Japanese children learn katakana first because "it's the easiest"and saw children's manga written entirely in katakana and I couldn't disagree more
