My native dialect of Spanish has no reduction either so this isn't too hard, but vowels on unstressed syllables do become a bit more central (ä-ɐ,i-I etc) is this the same phenomenon as Japanese?

For the most part, though Japanese is a pitch-accent language rather than a stress-accent language so it’s difficult to make a direct comparison!
