@Dogen today while walking home I was thinking about how I cannot relate to your complaint about Japanese words borrowed from English and thought of an example that might give you some food for thought

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Yes but this sounds too... Formal, I think? Like it sure fits the description I gave you but at least from my non-native English speaker point of view "partner" implies some kind of friendship/cooperation between the parts while 配偶者 doesn't
