      @Dogen Hey, I'm a college student taking Japanese 2. A student had brought up the usage of は and が as a particle. He said it was different than how professors teach of one being about the subject and the other the topic, but instead it should be used for familiarity. ~

      Is this true? i. e. If I were to tell you about my mom, someone you don't know, I would use が not は. But then after she's been introduced as a familiar, I would use は instead.
