how would you describe (in proper, linguistic-y sounding words) the difference between やだ！(normal intonation) and やだ〜！(camp, exaggerated 'onee' sounding intonation)?

Hey Hannah, 嫌 or や is considered an 尾高（おだか）word, so the や is always high, and any attaching particle, or だ will attach low. Cheers!
