But even model scenarios that allow the highest levels of ongoing fossil fuel use—compensated w the most extreme levels of (speculative!) carbon removal later this century—even they show that emissions must drop by 90% for global heating to halt. 4/n

Even in a 1.5°C scenario with the most extreme levels of CO₂ removal (green), CO₂ emissions decline ~90% at the time of net-zero CO₂ emissions. It is not possible to offset your way out of the climate problem: deep emission reductions are essential. cicero.oslo.no/no/posts/klima

think it's objective and respectable to continue to promote fossil fuels when (as they say themselves!) "the climate crisis is now"! When fossil fuel use must virtually cease! Is this anything but climate denial? 6/n
