"Democracy" under the profoundly anti-democratic Democrat Party in the USA is moving in the direction of Iran, where 500 people run for president and the mullahs disqualify 495 of them before anyone gets to vote. Our political clergy will tell us who we're allowed to vote for.

It's getting easier to catch Democrats remarking that the people shouldn't be allowed to vote on important issues because 2016 demonstrated they might vote "wrong." Their agenda is entirely based on taking away money and freedoms that could be used "wrong" by the deplorables.

It's getting easier to catch DNC Media talking about its duty to conceal information that might be abused or misunderstood by the idiotic citizens who lack the moral and intellectual sophistication of gatekeeper "journalists."

It's not so different at all from the mindset of the Iranian tyranny, which holds its Islamic clerics as superior judges of both morality and temporal politics. They provide a weak facade of "democracy" but the people only get to vote for clergy-approved candidates.

The left-wing U.S. establishment (and its nominally right-of-center vassals) envision a similar system. The big issues are all off the table, settled forever by their statist version of sharia law. "Acceptable" candidates will operate within a narrow window of permissible ideas.

Within that framework, a tame "conservative opposition" will be allowed to criticize Big Gov and rhapsodize about constitutional republicanism, but never actually DO anything that might disrupt the consensus. NeverTrumpers aspire to hold those comfortable, ineffectual positions.

This is why NeverTrumpers are so glib about insisting True Conservatism requires putting Liz Warren, Bernie Sanders, or Joe Biden in the White House. That IS their idea of "true conservatism": a safe, comfortable, eternal bullshit session without action or consequences.

Dissidents will never be allowed to hold seats on the Guardian Council, threaten the left-wing cultural and political consensus, or use any power they obtain to make changes that would affect society. Efforts to do so are denounced as heresy, i.e. "populism" or "nationalism."
Show this thread -
If you improbably defy the Guardian Council and vote for someone it considers unacceptable, as you did in 2016, you'll get endless sabotage, betrayal by the Council's loyalists in the permanent bureaucracy, and nonstop no-holds-barred efforts to remove the infidel from office.
Show this thread -
And you, too, will be denounced as an infidel - the synonyms in current U.S. politics are racist, sexist, homophobe, etc. You'll be treated like an infidel every day because you voted for the infidel. You can only have peace by letting the Guardian Council take over again.

If you're not comfortable with that shriveled vision of "democracy" where the list of things you're allowed to vote on - much less DO outside of politics - shrinks every year, then fight back in 2020. Unlike the Iranians, you can do it without risking your life.

And as you might have noticed, the Guardian Council does like the fact that you can take away their power by voting against them without fearing for your life. They absolutely LOATHE the amendment to our Constitution that guarantees it, and will erase it, if you let them. /end

(Sorry, should be "does NOT like the fact that you can take away their power" in last tweet.)
