A family friend died jumping in cold water - was hot weather outside, he was on the shore of a mountain lake; had a heart attack, didnt come out from the water. He was healthy, no problem with heart (was a nurse and had medical examinations every year).

Therefore it is better to study well the effects of cold/ freezing water on the human body and the pain, but sure, people can try at their own risk, some can have good results
