Too many atheist men saw the hierarchy of God > Man > Woman, and only objected about not being right at the top.

I feel you there. Had this moment a few years back when I realised how many public atheists were complete bell ends.
@Humanists_UK seem like a decent bunch, mind. Someone's going to prove me wrong now aren't they? -
So far I have found the Humanists a decent bunch as well.

lots of atheists i know seem to see themselves as on some sort of crusade to convert the believer and protect the morels of "Equality TM". mostly white male but not exclusively

I’ve literally never met an atheist like that. We hear about them because those types tend to get platforms. I think you know more atheists than your realize because most of us don’t really talk about it. Because unlike religious ppl, it’s not really that important to who we are.

It's wild to think how highly I thought of people like this just 10 to 15 years ago, and how easily I could have fallen into the shitty right wing hole.

I’m just an atheist, and part of being an atheist is rejecting organized religions— and if you ask me an “atheist community” sounds an awful lot like one...
-
Yep. They have developed their own dogma of sorts. *sigh*

Atheism has become a religion: therein lies the problem.

No, it's still the antithesis to it. It's an identity defined by what it isn't, that is persecuted still. What they do share is prominent peeps that have learned to grift using the identity as a shield/medium for unrelated beliefs.
