@TeamYouTube why can’t you play 1440p videos on Apple devices such as the iPhone X, iPad Pro 2017, iPad Air 2 ETC anymore?

YouTube adjusts the quality of your video stream from standard definition (such as 240p or 360p) to high definition (720p or more), based on the speed of your Internet connection. Also, You can try deleting the app and reinstalling the app. Let us know if otherwise.

YT relies on VP9, the industry leading open-source codec, for distribution & playback of 4K videos. Using VP9 results in less buffering, faster startup, & higher video quality. The Apple 4K model does not support VP9, & therefore we can’t deliver 4K resolution on this device.
