Most modern mobile devices don't have an easily removable battery. Manufacturers will tell you it was a cost thing, but in fact an entire generation of potential exploits are made possible by preventing consumers from easily removing a power supply at the hardware level.

How would removing a battery prevent a potential exploit? I understand that removing the power source is the best definition of "off". But as soon as the device goes back online any active malware on the network will still infect that device right?
