I want to talk to people about blockchain and how it might impact journalism. I’m not talking about Civil coins and the economy of funding journalists - necc. Rather, I’m interested in how blockchain can be used to create a shared and distributed ledger of facts.

Far more interesting angle than the coin/funding angle, tbh.

Legit question: how does transparent accounting help if people do not believe in money?

Do you mean they don’t believe in a certain currency, or capital “M” money in total

In a somewhat related vein, I've been wondering whether blockchain could be used to support a shared and distributed system for drafting and passing legislation: https://www.facebook.com/sheldon.rampton/posts/10156875807354937 …

yes it can but "passing" is a leap start in parallel for like 100 years

We will soon look back and laugh about how quaint our lack of understanding of blockchain was. Kinda like how "the cloud" was once this mythical, dangerous thing. But, to answer your question: journalists/ism will ignore blockchain until it's too late, as per usual.

I intend on being a few years too early to the point where I can’t make any real money off it. As usual!!!
