Far too costly and we don't have the technical abilities/manpower here.These things were only good when they were simple and state financed (low rate). Renewables are now dirt cheap and provide good non offshorable jobs for our kids

Serious? You heard of robots, right? They make the solar panels and they will install them too. Your kids jobs are not going to be in renewables. They will be in space colonization, and I guarantee you can't get to the outer reaches of the solar system on wind power.
