Don't send them to
#Orkney on their hollybobs whatever you do! We're just about to start an extermination programme to eliminate them & protect our bird life. Ruthless little blighters only appeared here on the islands in very recent past.
-
Yikes, presumably they surfed over from Durness. We'll take them. Catch and release, just stick 'em on the Scrabster ferry...
-
Will never really know but I'd guess they were introduced by a disgruntled (& misguided) farmer who may have been agrieved at a perceived high handed attitude sometimes displayed in the past by the RSPB in Orkney?
-
Yep, we get that too. Still don't know how hedgehogs ended up on Uist...

Saw one take down a crow on Fanore caravan site many years ago. Bird (big!) dragged underground -never even knew it'd been jumped. I sat there shocked rigid at the caravan window like the girl on the beach in Jaws who can't quite form the word 'shark'. "Sss.. sss...sssStoat!"
-
Arf. If you scroll up through the comments there's a video of one hunting a rabbit ten times its size. It doesn't end well for fluffy.pic.twitter.com/kU5Dxa0qsP

Weasels, stoats are stoatally different.

-
Weaselly told apart.
-
Apparently not.
-
I choose the smaller one in front - it's the lesser of two weasels.

Are they not baby Pine Martens? I don't know, cant tell the difference between Stoats, Weasels, Pine martens...Just thought that face and the white bib?
-
I thought the same. They look like little baby Pine Martens to me.
-
Me too - definitely pine martens. Super-cute though.
-
I'm sticking with Stoats...Pine Marten's have a much narrower snout :) http://britishwildlifecentre.blogspot.com/2012/05/sybil-stoat.html …
-
They're *very* young Stoats, black tail tip not yet developed. Pine Martens don't have a pale belly. These are too young to be out of the nest, mother must've been moving them (they often do).
-
Is there a word for baby stoats? Stoatlets, stoateens, or just boring old Pups.
-
*really hopes it's stoatlets*
