Let's start by sharing some of the core resources that underpin our practice and conversations, which draws primarily from zen and vipassana as well as more generally from modern mindfulness work (thread):

  4. Here is the first episode, for easy reference. This episode is fantastic as well, since explains that beyond the perspective of both everyday mind and awakeness together, there is living from an open heart, which integrates and connects:

  5. A key insight here is that when we are challenged by shifts between 'just this' and 'everyday mind' modes and have difficulties with integration, we are still making an error of dualism - because both can exist at the same time. Everyday mind is, and can be carried by, awakeness.

  6. This is a very helpful new episode of interviewing . Speaks directly to questions in our group about integrating awakening insights, and making them part of every day life. The first episode is great as well!

As mindfulness deepens, our hearts break open with clarity. Loving awareness holds this, even when it's painful. Learning to be w/ our pain without being swept away by it is equanimity. This mind state allows us to get in touch w/ how strong we actually are.

  8. Yesterday, our group discussed two modes of dharma dialogue: 1) challenging others to see clearly - risking conflict and disruption; and 2) speaking from a place of your own vulnerability and fears. They seem different, but both are about accepting risk, opening up, real talk.

Rejected names for this class: * "Hack the Stack" * "Sommelier Training, but for Awareness" * "Recipes for Mental Wonton Soup" Anyway, we're calling it Deconstructing Sensory Experience and Nondual Practice, except for when we call it "the stack class" It's going to be good.

  15. If you pay attention you can just clearly see people, random strangers included, as creatures living and embodying attempts to love and care, even if this is expressed as fear, anger, etc.

  16. Very cool thread. Also relates to 's account about working with the koan (not the Haddaway song) 'what is love?' in this episode:

Thanks for following and for the warm welcome, all!🔥So, as you may have seen, we have an expanding thread on the people, ideas and resources that inspire our group's practice. Let's make another thread - what is currently inspiring your practice? Anything you can link to?
