But do watch it subtitled if you're able to deal with subs. The original acting is great, especially Mari Iijima as Minmay.

If you can possibly find it, the Anime Eigo subtitled release of SDF Macross is the best. It's the one I have.

Once you're done with all 36 episodes of the original series, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching Macross: Do you Remember Love?

It's the 1984 movie adaptation of the original series. It's a retelling, so you get the same characters but a slightly different story.
