I don’t know who needs to hear this, but responding to a Brit with “Yeah but we threw your tea in the harbor, lol!” is not the amazing comeback/sick burn you think it is

Dude. No. Really. You’re the only ones who care that you declared independence. No one else celebrates that. -
My marine biology prof was Oxford-trained and a very posh gentleman. I had asked him what the British view on American independence was and he said "we sent a bunch of religious zealots across the Atlantic so we didn't have to deal with them anymore."
