We we're discussing the new grand warden skin on stream last night. Everyone agrees that it is great but is it part of the gladiator series? I think supercell could have some fun with mythic Greek set. Medusa was suggested for the aq. Maybe Hades for the bk... @Devourlick

Ok, so the Gladiator Warden finishes the trio of Gladiator skins that started with the Gladiator King, followed by the Gladiator Queen. So why a Zeus-inspired skin when Gladiators are Roman? Well...the Warden isn't a physical combat fighter like gladiators are.

So we couldn't make him into a sword-wielding character. Instead we went with more era-appropriate aesthetics. But before history buffs start saying "Gladiators are Roman, Zeus is Greek!" yes, Zeus was a Greek God. But the Romans had Jupiter as an equivalent.

Saying he was "Jupiter inspired" is probably less recognizable than saying he was "Zeus inspired". Furthermore, while the Greeks didn't have gladiators per se, sculptures found in the 4th century BC in the Greek city of Paestrum depicted paired fighters who battled...

in a similar manner as Roman gladiators did around the mid 2nd century BC. So it's possible to postulate though Roman gladiatorial games began around 264 BC, the tradition may have been inspired by the Greeks.
