A little Japanese Girl just made me laugh. She sees me waiting for her & mom to walk past. Looks up with awe on her face & in a low voice says gaigin then almost walks into the baskets cause still looking. I had to laugh, smile & say hello. She is still watching me. 
Growing up in Tokyo we were literally the only Gaijin for miles around. It was a weird experience to be constantly pointed at.

When I first came here it was commonplace for me to have this. Mostly with kids. When I next had a beard that was and still is a big thing but it’s very rare these days. Mostly with very young ones.
