OK hivemind. I'm building a new PC. I'm usually an AMD fanboi but I'm plunking down for an i7. Should I get the 8700K or 9700K? Not doing i9. Got a 2080ti vid card to go along with the new rig.

I agree, It does at the moment BUT future is what you are spending the money on. Most games are written now to use GPU plus CPU....your i9 will take you further down the road. Once they write the code to take advantage of it. But you will need a new motherboard as well.
No disagreement there. While the new system will be pretty top of the line, not sure I'm ready to buy "burning white hot" top of the line for marginal increases.

It's definitely the shining star of the system. Almost picked up the 2080 until I saw the last 2080ti on the shelf and it called my name.
