What's the AMD equivalent of the 1080? I've always largely been an ATI/AMD fanboy over Intel/Nvidia.

Should rock anything that has come out till now on 1080p highest settings 60fps. 490€ is a good price, you can get them for maybe 440€ if necessary. Nvidias new RTX cards are on their way, may be a gimmick in Gen1, maybe its the future

1070 has been great for me. Not too expensive compared to the higher models and can run basically everything really well if your not too critical about specific performances.

Definitely good unless you want 4K! But with a new generation of cards coming out in a couple of weeks I'd wait both for the benchmarks and the effects it'll have on the prices of 10-series cards.

I would strongly recommend waiting a while yet until the 2070-2080 Ti series plus aftermarket cards have established themselves -- by then, the now old generation might well have seen a significant price drop. That said, the 1070 is nice, personally I wouldn't suggest 1/

going mid range last gen for a new rig; rather I'd go for high end last gen, once those price drops come into effect... should last you much longer for hopefully marginally more money. The difference in performance between a 1070 and a 1080 Ti is massive.
