Moreover? I don't give a shit that detransitioners exist. The percentage of people who transition is vanishingly small, the percentage of people who detransition is a small percentage of that small percentage. That's an acceptable risk in medicine. Literally any medicine.

You know how at the end of every drug commercial there's like an extra fifteen seconds where the chipper VO artist lists all the side effects? That's detransition. A side effect. A statistical blip. Every medicine has some people who it is prescribed to and doesn't work for.

I don't see saving any detransitioners from the fact that they had the blessed resources to transition too quickly as an important priority over saving the people who wouldn't even have the resources to transition under WPATH/Harry Benjamin/whatever. I just don't. Sorry.

Plus, it's not like transitioning when you shouldn't literally kills you? They aren't Turing. They can stop the wrong hormones *whenever*. Guess who can't stop the wrong hormones whenever? Me! Because there's barriers to transition even under Informed Consent. We don't need more!

Literally the fuckin boner pill "may increase your risk of heart attack or stroke". Let Bob Dole die to get a stiffy, but heaven forbid W@lt H€yer accidentally grows a tit. Let adults and mentally competent minors in safe homes make their own medical decisions. It's not hard.

I have cash money to pay for it right now and am struggling to get an appointment with the local LGBT center because I am satisfied with my PCP and don't want to rely on an overburdened public health center for primary care. Don't tell me it's too easy to transition.

It costs three digits to even *sit down* in a Planned Parenthood for transition care, the *only* transition care available to huge swaths of American trans people. Don't *tell* me it's too easy to transition.

My siblings in the UK are placed on waiting lists that stretch for literal years to get transition care. Don't tell me it's too easy to transition. My siblings in Ireland have so few providers of transition services you can count them on one hand. Don't tell me it's too easy.

All over the goddamned world the Trans community is fighting against religious fundamentalists and garden-variety bigots who want to turn back the clocks on trans health care to the fucking 1800s. Don't tell me it's too easy to transition.

Um, I'm against forced therapy even when it's free and especially when it's used as a gatekeeper for other services.

I mean, I don't think it's completely unreasonable to say "transition is hard and a huge life change, everyone should have some professional psychological support to get through it" on its own, it's just an opinion from a completely different reality than ours.
