Ok, it's taken most of the week, isn't pretty and I want my Kitchen table back but It Works!! Microsoft BASIC 1.0 loaded in from paper tape 😀 Still got a little work to do as it's only seeing half the RAM but that should be an easy fix.

Okay, this is out of control now. Tony, repeat after me - "I must not buy duplicates of obscure computers just because they're slightly different to the ones I already own" ...

Just looking for a laptop for somebody and spotted this. Touchscreen, I5 CPU, SSD. All good stuff but what is really tempting me is the price of £126.58 per kg.....Wait, what??? 🤔

Hmm, almost. It would appear that my printer's ability to print a solid black is rather poor :(

Getting the old switches out was a pain. New tactile buttons are now in place & tested. Just need to laminate & trim the top layer. Also fitted a flat-flex cable on the screen.

The analog computer we're restoring has a digital section with eight flip flops and 8-bit counter. We replaced bad capacitors in the power supply. Also replaced a burnt-out bulb with the last spare we had, but another burned out a few minutes later :-(

The analog computer is the size of a mini-fridge. The cover is removed, showing the circuitry inside.
The power supply board for the digital section. We replaced the three blue filter capacitors that went bad. The board has a large transistor on a heat sink.
The digital section is programmed by a patch panel. 16 lights to the left show the status of the flip flops and counter.

Evening project - MK14 replicas. Built the right one a while back but not a fan of the PCB as it looks too modern. Picked up the one on the left from Ebay in a non-working state but that keypad looks totally out of place.

this is the first 5 1/4" hard drive, the ST-506. it came out in 1980, storing 5 megabytes. this very photo would have filled it! amazing how far we've come in 40 years.
