Testing new Leading Pedestrian Interval intersections in Bellevue. They give pedestrians a slight head start to enter the crosswalk in some scenarios, but signal priority seems to still be given for cars turning left.

Misestimated in the video, it's about five seconds. And pedestrians are given first dibs when nobody is turning left, it seems.

Appears the same at Bellevue Way & NE 4th St - left turning cars go first, then pedestrians can proceed with LPI from cars from the other direction.

Ah, okay, probably takes whatever the signal phasing already was. Proceeding northbound in the western crosswalk, car was waiting in the left northbound turn lane but had to wait until end of cycle.
Wonder how much coordinating was needed with signal timing department, if any.

Final video update: don't know when this happened, but the crossing at 110th Ave NE & Bellevue Transit Center was changed to a pedestrian scramble in advance of the light rail station opening next year.
