For good reason, this isn't even rush hour and even at the LTS 3.7 that I am I'd nope out of this situation immediately.

I am a Highland alum. Mostly walked to and from. When I was middle school-age, I did a lot of sidewalk biking around there, and even that was dangerous.

There's an off-street path accessible from the south. From the north, there's a relatively quiet route (slated to get separated bike lanes) via 152nd ave NE, but crossing Bel-Red is a bit disgraceful.

I just noticed the off-street path I mentioned has apparently been fenced off by the Apartment complex it passes through... meaning all the students in Crossroads will need to walk/bike around via Northup/Bel-Red 😑
