I wish we had a better vocabulary / taxonomy for Foundations. "501(c)(3)" and "501(c)(6)" are too much of a mouthful... And not well understand. I'm glad that Bradley called

Well, we do have words to differentiate them, but nothing legally mandates that those words be used like the restrictions on legal names for corporations. If 501(c)(6) was not allowed to call itself a "foundation", and instead a "trade association", then it'd be less confusing.

In most countries, there are legal restrictions on the names which force clear understandings of what they do. The U.S. is a rare exception, which allows for things like the "Linux Foundation" which is not actually a foundation, but a pay-to-play business association. CNCF too.
