There have been four American presidential elections since the Iraq War started. Twice the Democrats ran with a nominee who had supported the war (Kerry, Clinton) and lost. Twice they ran with one who opposed the war (Obama) and won.

The Iraq War vote is a terrible litmus test for Presidential choice.

not a litmus test so much as another good reason why Biden doesn’t deserve the nomination

Strongly disagree. It demonstrates how a candidate operates under political pressure, what their instincts are, and what kind of judgment they have.

Except Barack Obama wasn't in a position to vote for the war.

It killed thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, with a price tag of over $2T. How much worse would it need to get for you to consider some minor measure of accountability like “Doesn’t get to be the most powerful person in the world”

why? it was a disaster and an atrocity all around, launched under false pretenses. if being "pragmatic" or whatever word you want to use for it is voting for that, then the only thing you're "pragmatic" about is self-preservation and not the good of other people

A disaster that was fairly obviously being pushed by bad faith actors with an agenda
