Epic fail. Epic. Wrong message. Wrong choice. Wrong time. Just missed a huge opportunity to put relevancy ahead of "tradition" for the right reasons. So sorry you took the wrong but convenient path.

Let’s have a moment of silence and reflect on how ridiculous it is to play a song about slavery before our sport’s most important event. Good job.
-
The original lyrics were anti-slavery. The lyrics were changed years ago. The current lyrics are not offensive. It's been played for 100 years. Get a grip.

Why has the song been modified?

Do yopu want it played with the original wording?

It's a minstrel song about the sadness of an enslaved man who has been sold away from his family. Being entertained by the plight & brutalization of an enslaved man is racist even if it's been vaguely "modified" - but of course a group of privileged white men don't care.

I would not want the State song to be heard. Kentucky is obviously corrupt. Not the REAL people of Kentucky. There is an betting partner you are fond of that is though.
