  1. Currently the process remains broken, just like BPD Comstat remains broken. It’s sad to hear those involved saying things will be great in the future, although many families and communities suffer today. It’s unethical , and cold. Changes must be made on day one by the new Mayor.

  2. I’m happy to see many candidates for Mayor talking about Citistat, but please know the process is worthless without the right people running it for an administration. Also, be very cautious of people being involved with their own personal agendas over sincere public service.

  3. MD governor is 1 of the constitutionally strongest in the nation. Incredible executive powers to prioritize public safety in Baltimore thru more intense/effective parole/probation supervision & redeploy State law enforcement to help w/City deployments. No legislation required.

Please listen to this man. He's been there done that. Has the results to show for it. And actually does give a damn. This is all much more than can be said for many of our current "leaders."

  5. I respect education, but I respect those who’ve actually been on the streets, doing the hard work even more. Before jumping in my tweets, trying to tell me what works, please be sure you’ve got your 10,000 hours of successfully going after violent criminals, because I do. Thanks!

  6. Baltimore, I’ll say it again. Here’s my formula to figure out if police have dropped the ball. Repeat Violence+Short Time Span+Same Geographical Area=Police Deployment Failure. Even short staffed you must prioritize post homicide deployments! Look in the mirror before Chicago!

Adding my voice to other Chicagoans apologizing to Baltimore that people are aggressively marketing our law enforcement tactics to it and other jurisdictions. They shouldn't be.

Maybe Baltimore should stop letting PERF the Police Executive Research Forum pick our Commissioners - For some reason PERF Board member Commissioner Harrison picked Chicago PERF Training and Crime Plan for Baltimore - it all makes PERFECT sense - Remember Baltimore - Be Patient!

I agree, reactive policing without proactive and focused deployments is a recipe for failure. As we clearly observed in 2019. This is why change is needed. After a year like 2019 and no new change yielding positive returns=no new thinking, which equates to needed change.

As TB pointed out on 1/12/2020, and now they are seeking advise from Chicago; why are tax payers at the very least still paying for this out of Towner Deputy of OPERATIONS? What is his high salary bringing to the table? I’ve never seen failure last this long.

  13. A step ahead or a step behind. I’m watching too much “step behind” thinking in Baltimore. ShotSpotter is after the gun is going off. Shell casing collection and comparison, after gun has been fired. Call-Ins. After the criminal has done plenty of dirt. It’s not the way to win.

FOF - In January, it appears 27 sworn members left the Police Department ... making it the largest number of officers to leave BPD since July 2018 when 33 members left.

  15. He should be challenged, but the challenger must be the Mayor’s Citistat team. He must be questioned and held accountable on his failed crime plan, and what’s being done to speed up Consent Decree implementation. Big money is being made as he and others take their own sweet time.

Fudging the numbers is the oldest trick in the book. It's the "go to" method for a politician, police department or any other dishonest figure (who depends on public perception) to mask ineptitude. Unfortunately, folks who don't pay attention often buy the ruse. You pay attention

  17. And Baltimore wants to borrow from Chicago. Here’s a fact...in 2012 ATF asked me to give Chicago some advice on how to reduce violent crime. Baltimore could’ve easily gone lower in crime reduction, but Mayors and Commissioners haven’t valued serious Comstat and Citistat sessions.

    2) Harrison also said he wants the General Assembly to support initiatives to “make parents more involved” in their children’s lives. Does he not understand that government can’t force people to be good parents. Government can’t teach morality or personal responsibility. Crazy.

Yesterday & Commissioner Harrison touted the success of their Crime Reduction “Plan” there have been 25 murders in January. If this success....what would failure look like? Remember Baltimore, be patient!

As a voter/homeowner, we’ve heard say how he will make us safe. He hasn’t. Murders. Carjackings. Stolen Cars. Porch thefts. Let’s elect a mayor who attacks crime AND invests in our children and neighborhoods. VOTE Tue April 28th.
