  4. I loathe these disingenuous takes. You know why? Because they conveniently ignore the facts that the reservation system and atrocities against Indigenous peoples were committed in the name of white supremacy, settler colonialism and capitalism.

  5. I have been at this university for nearly 4 years and it is only today that I have discovered: A. That we have a office for “Off-campus and commuter student services” B. That this office is on the top floor of the Union, a place where I very rarely am.

I stand with land protectors. Violently removing Indigenous ppl from their land to benefit a corp in a dying industry is not , it's colonialism and capitalism. Call off forces,

URGENT UPDATE: It's not yet 5am - still totally dark out - and we've just heard RCMP made their first arrest at the monitoring post at 39KM. Cops are surrounding people there and beginning to clear the road to the checkpoint. .

Just a PSA: Indigenous leaders and peoples standing up for their own governance rights on their own lands, are *NOT* protestors. They are protectors. They are defending their lands and their rights. Do not conflate these two.

What does it mean to be an Indigenous relative, when your family has fallen apart because of dysfunction, and maintaining your traditional reciprocal responsibilities is basically impossible? Kinship isn't a metaphor, and it also isn't something to be romanticized.

TSA is so down to destroy any non-white cultural items. I’ve never seen them tear apart a nascar hat.

It is one of the most surprising things to non-Indigenous students, yet this is a concept that is not new. In fact it is literally as old as the settler state.

That is literally what Indigenous people, whether they are academic or not, are saying every day. By existing, we are continuing to ensure that settler colonialism is an incomplete project (I like to use the word failed but that can be hard to precisely define sometimes).

If there is one thing I hope to teach my students about Indigenous identity in the face of settler colonialism, it is that they should not think about resistance informing Indigenous identity, but rather Indigenous identity informing (everyday) resistance.

My mother sacrificed so much to make sure that I had a safe and happy childhood. My hope is that I can begin to repay her by being as successful as I can in everything that I do. And if I’m not successful at everything, I want to make at least learning and growing.

This is not the end! There will be plenty of my dollars making their way to Minneapolis in exchange for amazing books, just not this time 😬😬😬
