It's about time, now the other 49 States should follow suit.
-
I doubt I'll see the day all other states follow suit.
-
I wish it was statewide.
-
That would be great, and then Nation wide

I just have to ask: wasn't it *already* criminal to call 911 for wrongful purposes? So this is saying, "Well, it wasn't wrongful *before* to be suspicious of a random person living their life if they're not white, but it is *now*"?
-
Many states have laws against false 911 calls. This is a city ordinance making it a hate crime when the call is racially motivated.
-
Ah! *Now* the difference makes sense! *That* I can completely get behind.

I’m here for this! It should be a harassment charge at the very least.
-
It should be a state law, just in time to protect AAs already living in Detroit from racist, gentrifying whites.
-
One day we need to have a conversation about gentrification.
-
There's a neighborhood in Atlanta where all of the AA residents are doctors, lawyers, business owners & the like, but local real-estate agents cannot sell a house there to whites because whites don't believe AAs could be that affluent and can't imagine living among so many.

Charge, fine, jail, community service
-
Oh, I'm very interested in fines and community service. Imagine the possibilities.
-
They need to go to jail too for at least 12 to 24 hours
-
Maybe actual prison would open their eyes? Maybe a week?
-
Sounds good to me. Plus, community service in a soup kitchen or the most impoverished areas in their city
-
Yes! Serve a community they don't understand. Schools, community centers, food banks. I'm ready to see people learning empathy.
-
It's such a sad thought that people have to learn empathy
