    So many Americans seem to think that the pandemic is over (if it ever existed). It takes a lot to blow my mind, but these mass, maskless events look like a slower version of Jonestown (Orthodox). Please don't knock on my door.

    My first girlfriend in NYC came from East Coast money and went to elite schools. Her friends had similar backgrounds. I never went to college but told them I went to Harvard. They bought it. That was my first lesson in how easily duped the educated class are.

    Norm MacDonald was razor quick and very funny. I think after Chevy, he's the best Weekend Update anchor ever. Certainly the edgiest. I have my criticisms, which I know you're anxious to hear, but Norm was a unique comic voice. RIP.

    When I moved to NYC in '82, I knew someone who knew The Roches. I had a huge crush on Suzzy Roche, and asked if we could meet. The guy said "Man, she's out of your league." And I suppose she was. Dream big or don't dream at all.

    Any liberal or Democrat heaping even limited praise on George Bush, after spending 5 years depicting Trump as some kind of Hitler figure is a total fraud, given that -- by every liberal metric -- Bush/Cheney war far, far worse than anything Trump did.

    Confession: I was initially in favor of the US invasion of Afghanistan. I was still talking to Hitchens who influenced me, but it wasn't his fault. I briefly lost it. Then I came back to my antiwar position. Sorry for the confusion.

    9/11 also elevated Rudy Giuliani's profile to "America's Mayor." I lived in NYC under Giuliani. He was a thin-skinned racist tyrant who helped turn the city into today's police state. Wealthy New Yorkers appreciated his work.

    Our founders designed a system that treated citizens as more than just children. Our grand experiment is designed for a free people. Yes, that entails risk. Yes, I’ll take risk and freedom over a paternalistic government any day.

    Among the awful things 9/11 inspired, don't forget AN AMERICAN CAROL, David Zucker's racist, reactionary attack on antiwar dissent, where Muslims control Hollywood and enforce Sharia law in Beverly Hills. However, militarist ghosts and contemporary country singers save the day.
