I’m not an alarmist, but I feel America isn’t sufficiently alarmed that the Prez has threatened to create a phony national emergency to circumvent congressional approval and ram through his wholly unnecessary wall. This would be the greatest abuse of power in US history

It's about time. The Electoral College is an 18th century anachronism. One person, one vote, and the most votes win. That's called democracy.

Must be nice for them, drawing their full salaries and heading to a weekend retreat while millions of middle class government workers go without a paycheck.

The New York Times reports that Mitch McConnell “for the first time is facing pressure from members of his own party to step in to resolve the stalemate that has left 800,000 federal workers either furloughed or working without pay.”

Mitch McConnell voted 6 times to raise his own pay and 15 times against raising the minimum wage. Kentucky has voted for him for 34 years making him the 11th richest senator, while Kentucky remains the 7th poorest state. Kentucky - PLEASE - repeal & replace McConnell in 2020...

Promises from leaders still matter in America. said Mexico would pay for a wall. There’s zero evidence Mexico is paying for a wall. Evidence also still matters. So what we have is an attempt to swindle you into paying for a wall. That we don’t need.

When you push reckless policies that squander our resources, defy our values, leave 800,000 federal workers unpaid and millions of Americans without needed services, you don’t need to declare a national emergency. You are the national emergency.

Just checking: A president lying in public is worse than a representative cussing in private, no?

Hold fire on impeachment. The time is not now. Some exploit the process for political gain, but they aren’t helping. Step 1: investigate. Step 2: evaluate. Step 3: debate. Then, if the facts warrant it and they likely will, step 4: impeach.

So much to chew over in Trump’s Rose Garden speech, but I’m stuck on this: He claimed previous presidents have told him they wish they’d built a border wall. Really? Obama? Bush 43? Clinton? Bush 41? Carter? None has signaled in any way that he is pro-wall.

Let's be clear: All Trump wants is to build his dumb wall. This is not responding to a crisis. This is not about border security. This is about feeding his own ego & building a monument for himself. The impact on millions of Americans harmed by a shutdown? He could not care less.

If the President wants to start seizing land for "THE WALL" I think he should definitely start with some Texas ranchers. Am sure they'd be psyched.

There's a curious tic Trump has that reveals that he suffers from imposter syndrome: The way he tries to marshal unnamed people in support of his policies ("many people," "a lot of people say," etc.). He has zero confidence in his own ability, convictions, and decisions.

If a Dem prez did a tenth of Trump's crimes/crazy pronouncements, etc wld Repub.s hesitate for a minute to impeach him? Wld they worry "how it wld look" and say "what about the backlash?" Fuck no. 'Do what you believe' beats 'Finger in the wind' with voters almost always.
