I voted no simply because I don't trust the blue check system at all. I've seen totally valid high-profile and influential people not have the check mark and I've seen people who I have never heard of, nobodys, have a check mark. The check mark means nothing to me

Because literally every single presidential candidate that is registered for primaries already has a blue check, so this question would be extremely irrelevant if you were only discussing the presidential election.

It means they’re confirmed to be the person they say they are. That way you know if you read a tweet it’s not a fan or spoof account. It’s a bare minimum for fact checking. They should all have it. They also already do all have it, so it’s a moot point.

Nick I know state level candidates that are running unopposed. Meanwhile their opponent is running with a verified check mark. In politics optics are important. The blue verification lends legitimacy to the candidate & campaign, which in turn helps fundraising efforts.
