I work in the realm of politics-journalism-activism. I see the disparity every day. I worked closely with candidates throughout 2017/18 who were butting up against verified incumbents with their unverified accounts. It was frustrating for many. We found some backdoors. /2

I know a number of journalists & writers who can’t crack into greater visibility due to their lack of verification. This is truly unacceptable.

It’s absolutely impacted mine, Nick. And It’s frustrating to watch people from InfoWars spread doctored videos and Islamaphobic hate with blue checks verifying their content while legitimate journalists like Jane Meyer has to beg for years before receiving verification.

And it's not like they can't do it when they want to. Twitter, rightly, verified the Parkland student activists' accounts within a week.
